Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has been established with an objective of "regulating and supervising elementary, secondary and higher secondary education". So the quality of education is to be not only regularly and effectively monitored but continually enhanced to enable its product to acquire high knowledge and skills and make them both 'valuable' and 'valued' members of society. Great Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda envisioned such an education system by which "character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet."
